The Natural Resources Club has been present on campus for decades, consistently living by its motto of “Restoring Ecosystems, one Saturday at a Time.”
Rain or shine, we’re outside every Saturday morning, connecting students with local, hands-on ecological restoration volunteering opportunities. We work with many non-profit, state, and federal organizations around Humboldt County (plus occasional volunteering weekends with the Smith River Alliance in Del Norte County). Club members volunteer in activities such as removing invasive plant species, planting native species, picking up trash, trail maintenance, and more. We strive to create a community for students where they can get outside, connect with the local area, and spend time with like-minded individuals.
So far, partners have supplied the tools needed for volunteer efforts. However, as the number of club members grows, it’s becoming harder for these organizations to provide enough tools for everyone to participate effectively.
Your support will help us build an arsenal of tools and supplies, such as loppers, shovels, buckets, trash grabbers, soil knives, and more, to better restore ecosystems. It will also allow more club members to participate in enriching events, such as volunteer trips at the Smith River, by compensating students for gas, groceries, and other essential supplies.
Make a gift today to help increase the club’s impact in the community and create even more meaningful opportunities for its members.
