This year Nyla and Winter partnered with their Downtown United Soccer Club teammates to fill 50 comfort bags and gift as many toys to help spread the holiday spirit to children in foster care and homeless shelters with a gift from their holiday wishlist and a comfort bag to keep them comforted and cozy.
** Now we've added a second event to assemble comfort bags on Friday Dec 20 for all their friends and 276 schoolmates who would like to be of service to other kids!***
Today there are over 428,000 children in foster care and nearly 40% of the homeless in the US are under 18. Since 2012, PDF has served more than 14,724 youth and young adults—94% of participants being children of color—and has distributed over 69,449 comfort items for emergency assistance (children of immigrants, refugees, and disaster relief etc. globally).
To empower children to relax and focus on their dreams, Comfort Drop volunteers (Nyla, Winter, and their teammates!) will pack and distribute carefully selected items which consist of our signature Precious Dreams Foundation backpacks filled with brand-new, age-appropriate books, plush toys, journals, pajamas, and other bedtime necessities. In addition, PDF provides support through coping tools for all ages, access to free yoga, meditation and journaling workshops, and our new Humble Dreams Initiative that provides mentors, stipends, and accountability partners to support the aspirations of 16-21-year-olds living in shelters.
Every dollar makes an impact by providing comfort bags to children: $30 provides a comfort bag to 1 child. Help us reach goal to give 100 bags and toys!
Thank you!
