Our Mission

Pregnancy Loss Support Services is dedicated to supporting our community and providing care to patients who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, termination for medical reasons, or infant loss. Statistics show that 1 in 4 women will experience pregnancy or infant loss, and our mission is to help families navigate this difficult journey with compassion and practical support.

Our committee offers families essential resources and tangible items to take home from the hospital, but perhaps the most precious gift we can give is time to be with their babies. Currently, our Labor and Delivery units have Cuddle Cots to help preserve babies, allowing families to spend extended moments with them. However, these cots are complicated to operate, requiring multiple steps to assemble and troubleshoot, adding stress to our nurses who are already focused on providing compassionate care.

We are raising funds for Caring Cradles, a simpler, more reliable solution. These cradles are easy to use—no tubes, no liquids, no supervision required—just plug in, turn on, and they are ready. They require no maintenance, are easy to clean, and minimize stress for our staff. Each Caring Cradle costs $6,995.

Through this fund, we may also provide additional support to families, including:

• Covering the cost of cremation for families who cannot afford it.

• Creating a Reflection Garden outside Unity Hospital, serving as a marker for families and funeral directors to gather.

• Offering clay hand and footprint casting keepsakes.

• Providing Memorial Baby Books.

• Each October, we host a Remembrance Ceremony in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, giving families a space to remember and honor their babies.
