Provide Crucial Support
LGBTQIA+ people often experience discrimination from health organizations, government agencies, and society. Institutional and social inequities put them in extreme danger. This oppressive environment creates barriers to safe housing, health care and other services, often resulting in high rates of homelessness, substance use, and untreated medical and mental health needs.
More than 40 percent of youth experiencing homelessness identify as LGBTQIA+
Of all youth served by Outside In last year, 12 percent were transgender or gender nonconforming
Rejection of their orientation and being forced from home after coming out were the top two reasons cited by LGBTQIA+ youth in a study on becoming homeless
The team at Outside In understands that every LGBTQIA+ person's experience is unique. We provide gender-affirming housing, health care, and social services to all of our fellow human beings. For more than 50 years, we've been committed to welcoming everyone, especially our most vulnerable neighbors, to our health clinic and youth services programs. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We're here to celebrate and help people on their journey to live a full life.
