Plymouth State University (PSU) nursing students representing the Student Nurses Association (SNA) are raising funds to embark upon an opportunity of a lifetime; a Service-Learning Trip to Navajo Nation in winterim of 2024.
This trip will aid the attending nursing students to gain experience working with culturally diverse populations and enhance their understanding of unique attributes such as interpersonal, spiritual, and moral values in order to seamlessly weave these important traits in their patient care. Through the Fair Trade Learning framework, the core values of social justice, equity, inclusion, collaboration, reflection and community-driven service are woven into the experience including pre trip exploration/learning.
This trip will in turn give back to the PSU and greater Plymouth community, where students will share their real-life experiences with peers, citizens and mentors.
All additional proceeds over the fundraising goal will continue to benefit the SNA Service-Learning Program in sustaining their relationship with the Navajo Nation community leaders to support the reservations local needs.
