The Sanilac County Elementary Schools are participating in a Read-a-Thon to benefit The Sanilac County Imagination Library. This program provides FREE, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family income. The Sanilac County Imagination Library is made possible by Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and its local affiliate, The Sanilac County Community Foundation.

Reading to young children improves cognitive skills and helps with the process of cognitive development. When you begin reading aloud to your child, it essentially provides them with background knowledge of their young world, which helps them make sense of what they see, hear, and read
This year we are excited to announce that we will hold a Read-a-Thon fundraiser. Our Read-a-Thon is a program that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to build literacy skills. The focus of the Read-a-Thon is for everyone to know we are committed to improving children's future reading skills. The Read-a-Thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that challenges each reader to complete 10 reading sessions over our 2-week event.
Our Read-a-Thon will start on February 21st and run for 2 weeks.
If you choose to participate in the pledge portion of the Read-a-Thon, there is a separate form to have your child obtain the pledges. All students are encouraged to participate in the reading portion of the Read-a-Thon.
Individual schools will be having competitions within their buildings for the students with the highest percentage of participation.
There will be more information, including the pledge form, tracking progressing calendar, and a reminder letter about Read-a-Thon when we get closer to the event.
100% of the money donated will support the Sanilac County Imagination Library. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Sanilac County Elementary Principals
