The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileMy family has owned and operated Hacienda Gran Batey, a small coffee farm in Puerto Rico for the past 50 years. When we think of love and tradition, we think of the coffee we grow on our farm--coffee that has kept my family together for decades.
Ever since I can remember, my mom and dad have run our farm. As a kid I'd help plant and harvest the coffee and imagine, someday I too will be part of this family legacy just like my father and his father before him. Today I am.
For Puerto Ricans, coffee is more than a business. It is a passion, our culture and history, and a way to sustain our communities. We are proud of the coffee we produce-- the best tasting coffee in the world! So, when Hurricane Maria destroyed most of the coffee farms in Puerto Rico, including ours, the losses were devastating and threatened the future of our communities and heritage.
That is why Hispanic Federations seedling program is so important. It is helping my family and others throughout the island rebuild our farms, one coffee tree at a time. It is reigniting the hope we feel for our land and coffee. It is creating a stronger economy for our mountain communities. And it is keeping families working side by side.
Almost one-million trees have been provided to small farms like ours in Puerto Rico. But we still need to distribute another million. Will you help? For the price of a cup of coffee, you can join us in rebuilding our farms and continuing to grow the rich and robust coffee we are known for. You can help continue generations of tradition for small, family farms in Puerto Rico, like Hacienda Gran Batey.
$3 dollars. The price of most cups of coffee. Your small donation will have an impact for decades. Please join us.
