Bruce Rossmeyer, event founder, started the Ride for Children to support the mission of Camp Boggy Creek to ensure camp programs are made available to children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses at NO COST to them! Bruce often expressed his dedication to the mission by saying "It's all about the kids"
Camp Boggy Creek is a place where children can escape the daily challenges of their conditions and simply just be kids! Founded in 1996, Camp Boggy Creek has made it possible for children with serious illnesses to enjoy a camp experience in a safe, medically-sound environment. The 232-acre camp serves children ages 7-16 who've been diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening conditions at absolutely no cost to them or their families. Since 1996, Camp Boggy Creek has impacted the lives of over 90,000 campers and family members.
The camp offers children the chance to participate in a variety of activities, some for the very first time, like catching a fish, going horseback riding, or swimming, all while making new friends. Camp Boggy Creek provides fellowship where children can spend time with others who are just like them and share their life experiences, which serves as a reminder that they are not alone.
"My first visit to Boggy Creek helped me so much because until then I had never been with kids with the same disease. This was the first time I had ever been away from home. Everyone was so wonderful and I had so much fun I didn’t want to leave." — Lynn, camper

“Without camp, I feel I never would have had the strength to fight through when I was sick. Camp Boggy Creek gave me the hope I lost, which inspired me so much that every year I would try my hardest to give others I met at Camp some hope and make them smile.” - Kayla, camper
