Billions of people around the world in underserved communities still lack sufficient access to clean water and adequate infrastructure to travel to health clinics, markets, & schools. Engineers in Action exists to build a world where everyone has equal access to essential resources and opportunity.

Story

Help us build a life changing suspended pedestrian footbridge across the Río Capilla in rural Bolivia. With a span of over 35 meters (114 feet), it will provide a means of safe crossing for pedestrians, motorcycles, wheelbarrows, and livestock. The project will be delivered in direct cooperation with the municipal engineers and the benefiting communities.

This project will serve the communities of Qaga Huasi, Julpi Arriba, and Tablón, with a total beneficiary population of 750, providing year-round access to education, health care, markets, employment, and government representation. Further, improved access to fertile land and markets will facilitate economic expansion and encourage population growth in coming years.

The bridge is being delivered as a joint effort between Burns & McDonnell and various other friends from our bridge builder family. Funds will be used to help offset costs for the project including travel and other sundry costs in an effort to solve this last mile problem.
