Story

Each year, cancer affects more than 4,500 people in Pierce County, and this number continues to rise. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there's been an alarming drop in the number of cancer screenings, which help doctors detect cancer early, reducing patients risk of suffering from more advanced forms. And, according to the National Cancer Institute, delays in screening from colorectal and breast cancer alone could result in an additional 10,000 deaths over the next 10 years.

As the second leading cause of death in the U.S. and the first in Pierce County a cancer diagnosis like this can understandably cause patients and their loved ones to plan for the worst. Fortunately, when cancer is caught early, individuals can be matched with the right doctor who can provide the right treatment at the right time, helping them recover as quickly and as fully as possible.

This year, Rock the Foundation will continue to advance MultiCares cancer programs and services, supporting earlier diagnosis and treatment of the most common cancers in our region.

With your generosity during this years event, every cancer patient in Pierce County will receive the highest quality care precisely when they need it to get through one of the most difficult times of their lives.
