Story
For more than 25 years, a group of Cal Poly Humboldt alumni—known as the Humboldt Fishin’ Lumberjacks—have stayed connected through a shared passion for fisheries science and their time at Humboldt. What began as an annual fishing tradition has grown into a commitment to support future students in the field.
Inspired by their mentor, Dr. Terry Roelofs, they established the Roelofs Humboldt Fisheries Endowment to carry forward his legacy of mentorship and dedication to fisheries science.

The endowment supports graduate students in the Natural Resources, Fisheries program at Cal Poly Humboldt—students engaged in research and fieldwork that contributes to fisheries conservation, restoration, and the health of North Coast watersheds and marine environments.
Graduate study in this field requires significant time and resources. This endowment helps ease financial barriers for full-time students in good academic standing, with preference given to those focused on fisheries conservation and related research.
Built through the continued support of alumni and friends, the fund is intended to provide lasting support for students and their work—now and into the future.
