Rochester Regional Health Home Care and our team members walk alongside patients and their loved ones, easing burdens and creating space for moments of peace.

Not long ago, we had a patient in our care who was completely bedbound and dependent on a Hoyer lift for every transfer, unable to stand, and unable to bathe on his own.

With determination and the guidance of both his occupational and physical therapists, he made remarkable strides. Slowly, day by day, he regained strength. And recently, for the first time in months, he was able to take a shower, with his wife’s steady support beside him.

But there was a moment in his journey when progress nearly stalled. He needed a bariatric shower chair to safely practice bathing at home. His insurance wouldn’t cover it, and his family simply couldn’t afford the cost.

Not wanting to see his progress slip away, the OT and PT purchased the chair themselves so he could continue moving forward with dignity and independence.

Their leader later reached out to us for help covering the cost, but the window had already passed and they had acted out of sheer compassion and urgency.
