Columbus Catholic High School operates an outdoor athletic complex with a football/soccer field, softball field and baseball field. The football/soccer field and softball field are currently equipped with lights that are outdated and in need of replacement. Currently the baseball field is not equipped with lights. The stage in Oppold Gymnasium is also in need of updates to the outdated lights.

We are kicking of the “Sailors Light the Way” Campaign to fund these necessary lighting projects. During the 2023 football season, lights had to be rented and brought in for games because the current fixtures are not working at 100% capacity and were not able to light the field well enough for students to safely play. These lights need to be replaced before the 2024 football season or the Sailors will need to look at alternative locations and game times. The stage lighting and softball lighting fixtures are over 25 years old, and it has become difficult to purchase replacement parts. Though they are providing the needed output for the upcoming seasons, replacement is recommended before the 2025 seasons.

The total project cost is $820,000. This goal can be achieved if we all join together to light the way for future generations of Sailors! No donation is too big or too small and all donations are tax-deductible. Donors can choose to direct their contribution to a specific part of the campaign or opt to have the donation used to support all of the projects. Our student athletes and performing artists continue to demonstrate the dedication and hard work that is a tradition at Columbus Catholic High School. These updates will ensure that they compete and perform on their home field/stage.
