Visit the charity's profileAs an organization with more than a century of experience in caring for our community, the Valley of the Sun YMCA responds quickly to these challenges; creatively expanding our programs to meet our community when, where and how we are needed most.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can continue to ensure the health, safety and well-being of every YMCA child and family. We are working to pave the way for a bright future to all of our community no matter their age, race, gender or socioeconomic status.
The Valley of the Sun YMCAs mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Y programs support parents in creating stronger families in order to lower child poverty, reduce social-isolation and increase positive health outcomes.
In 2024, the Y will:
• In our Early Learning and Summer Camp programs, over 40% of the participants are on financial assistance. We want to continue to provide high-quality, affordable programming to all families, regardless of ability to pay.
Y programs provide safe spaces to allow teens and young adults to build a sense of belonging and develop their self-identity.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Have 30 students in the Youth & Government program and allow 20 Leaders-in-Training to develop their leadership competencies at no cost.
Y programs work to reduce depression and fear through outreach and safe social gatherings.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Provide our 1200 insurance-based individuals with social programs and activities to ensure no senior suffers from isolation.
Y programs provide critical safety around water knowledge and teach swimming skills for youth and adults.
In 2024, the Y will:
• Provide over 200 youth and adults with low cost swim lessons, swim team opportunities, and free Safety Around Water swim lessons.
