Established in 1985 by Lida Oliver Beasley, the Santa Monica College Orchestra provides students and community musicians with exceptional opportunities to engage with a diverse repertoire of symphonic, choral, oratorio, and operatic music. Our ensemble includes a wide range of participants, from high school students to collegiate and freelance musicians, all eager to explore major orchestral works, contemporary pieces, and compositions by living composers.
We are committed to offering valuable performance experiences, including masterclasses with top industry professionals and audition preparation to help musicians build impressive portfolios. Our concerts take place at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica and in various venues across the greater Los Angeles area.
While we receive funding from the district, your support will enable the SMC Symphony Orchestra to expand both student and community experiences in several vital ways. Contributions will assist us in covering performance rights expenses, rental fees, and stipends for principal musicians and guest performers.
Your support will enhance music education through collaborations, provide opportunities for community members passionate about music, and engage with underserved residents in our area. Join us in nurturing a rich musical community!
