SMGH Foundation & MHA Board Member Fundraising Challenge

Dear SMGH Foundation Board Members,

As stewards of the SMGH Foundation, we are excited to announce an exclusive fundraising challenge tailored specifically for the SMGH Foundation & MHA Board members. This initiative is designed to harness our collective passion for our community healthcare and raise critical funds for the acquisition of Oasis Recliner chair from Stat Medical for the Emergency Department at SMGH.

Challenge Duration: December 15th - January 7th, 2023

Medical grade vinyl chairs are made to withstand the wear and tear of patient use and hospital cleaning agents, however, they do not last forever. Recently SMGH needed to remove a chair from circulation due to a tear in the vinyl, and inability to repair. Once vinyl is torn, it does not meet infection control standards, and unless it can be repaired, it needs to be replaced. Upgrading the replacement chair to a larger sized chair will help promote inclusivity, allowing for most size patients to use this seat comfortably. This chair is urgently required as we continue to navigate increased ED volumes by providing our patients with a comfortable, reclining chair during their visit. At present, they are using a regular chair in this ED room which does not promote any comfort for patients who may be in discomfort.
