Food insecurity is a significant and pressing issue facing many people across Canada, particularly post-secondary students. According to a recent survey of Humber students, 53% of respondents said they didn’t eat because they couldn’t afford food.
The Student Food Security Fund helps address this challenge by providing direct subsidies to help students access food on campus while bolstering Humber’s efforts to conquer food insecurity throughout our community. In particular, it offers students in need with a subsidy equivalent to $5 per day* for food purchases at Humber (with funds distributed to eligible students at the start of each term).
By supporting this fund, you are helping build community consciousness on campus through equitable access to food for all. No student should go hungry and, through your generosity, we can ensure this is the case while making a meaningful, long-lasting difference for students within the Humber community.
*The funds are calculated based on a five-day school week. Therefore, the subsidy will be the equivalent of $25 per week for the duration of each term.
