Story
March 25, 2021 is National Medal of Honor Day, which recognizes members of the United States Military who have distinguished themselves conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty and are awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions.
As America honors the recipients of the Medal of Honor, we are reminded of all service members who answer the call of duty to serve this great nation. Towards that end, Ludlowe High Schools Students for Soldiers club is hosting a walkathon/runathon to benefit the USO of Metropolitan New York which supports active duty service members and their families throughout their duration of service to the nation.
For each mile a participant runs or walks, they will pledge to raise donations. Each week, the clubs presidents will keep a leaderboard to see who can run or walk the most in March! All participants are encouraged to log their miles every Friday throughout the month of March through the Google Form here.
The USO strengthens Americas military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. Since mid-March the USO of Metropolitan New York has been providing essential support to the thousands of service members responding to COVID relief efforts in the tri-state area sand will continue to be a force behind the forces for these National Guardsmen, active duty service members, and their families.
For additional information on the walkathon/runathon or if you have questions about Students for Soldiers, please reach out to the clubs Co-Presidents Anna Keeley and Anna Burgess at annabk.uso@gmail.com.
