Do you remember when you first walked through the Mizpah Gate? The Mizpah Gate is the symbol of our Alumni Association. If you're a friend of the University or live in the community, do you notice the two pillars made of heaps of stones that look like a gate at the intersection of Hillcrest Street and College Drive? If you're a Texan, do you remember when the Mizpah gate was recorded as one of Texas Historic landmarks in 2009?

Whatever Mizpah means to you, the original Mizpah stood as a promise.

Southwestern is not just a campus for our students. It's a place of wonder, where prayers are answered, faith is built, hope is taught and love is experienced. It's a place where relationships are formed, memories are created and characters are shaped. It's a home and a refuge for many.

In the face of this pandemic and the challenges that come with it, we are making careful plans to bring our students back safely this fall. 84% of our students rely on financial aid to help cover their tuition. Our goal is to increase our scholarship endowments so 100% of our students can continue their education here at SWAU. It will also remind them of the promise that God made through the gate that's called Mizpah, that in spite of it all, God is watching over them.

The 2020 Mizpah ornament is a wonderful symbol of your time here at SWAU. It is a gift to all who have made a difference in the lives of our students this year by your donation of $250 or more. It will be mailed to you in time to hang it on your tree. Signing up for a reoccurring pledge of $25 per month is another way to receive this cherished ornament.

We understand our recent graduates may not have the same means but might still want to help the next generation of SWAU Knights. Therefore those who graduated in the last ten years and contribute a $10 monthly gift, will also receive this special Mizpah ornament.
