Story

As an organization with more than a century of experience in caring for our community, the Valley of the Sun YMCA responds quickly to these challenges; creatively expanding our programs to meet our community when, where and how we are needed most.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can continue to ensure the health, safety and well-being of every YMCA child and family. We are working to pave the way for a bright future to all of our community no matter their age, race, gender or socioeconomic status.

ADVANCING CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

Y programs are committed to executing experiences rich in social/emotional learning because youth do better when they have supportive adults nurturing their potential.

In 2023, the Y will: Support in the development of the next generation; provide quarterly educational workshops to support parents and their families, and provide membership and program access to low-income families

DROWNING PREVENTION

Y programs provide critical safety around water knowledge and teach swimming skills for youth and adults.

In 2023, the Y will: Provide 100 free swim lessons to our community; provide 250 students access to Safety Around Water programs; provide financial assistance for youth interested in becoming lifeguards and those interested in participating on the Swim Team

DEVELOPING COMMUNITY LEADERS

Y programs provide experiences that build a sense of belonging and welcome young people to develop their self-identity.

In 2023, the Y will: Provide scholarships to allow any teen interested to participate in Teen Leaders and Youth and Government, and host teen leadership seminars to help them develop necessary career-readiness skills

SUPPORTING SENIORS

Y programs work to reduce depression and fear through outreach and safe social gatherings.

In 2023, the Y will: Support seniors through the YMCA Outreach Program for Aging Seniors program, and host monthly events that build relationships and community for Active Older Adults

OUR MISSION

The Valley of the Sun YMCAs mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
