Story
Mental health problems dont discriminate. They affect anyone, anywhere, at any age and stage of life. While one in five people will experience a mental health issue in any given year, consider that by the time Canadians reach 40 years of age, one in two have or have had a mental illness. Furthermore, 70 per cent of mental health problems begin in childhood or adolescence.
Talk Today is a unique sports mental health program that not only encourages discussion about mental health but provides participants the tools they need should they encounter a teammate, classmate, family member or friend struggling. In a nutshell, Talk Today teaches youth athletes life skills.
Heres what others have had to say about the program:
The Talk Today Program is one of the finest that I have experienced in regard to Assisting and educating us on the signs of a friend or teammate that might need help. I highly recommend the Talk Today program for all athletes of all age groups. Team President in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Mental illness struggles are not a bad thing. You shouldnt be embarrassed by it, you know, anyone can have it. You shouldnt be afraid to talk. I think thats a big thing I took from it. OHL player
With your help and support, CMHA branches across Canada will be able to educate and support more athletes every year.
