Visit the charity's profileBreast cancer is the second most common cancer in women after skin cancer. As we continue to face challenges and loss throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many women are facing the difficult diagnosis of breast cancer. The USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute is the leading academic cancer treatment and research institute in our Gulf Coast region. We are here for our patients to help them navigate the complexities of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
As part of an academic health system, the MCI conducts the only active and comprehensive cancer prevention program. Our teams research and outreach efforts target the diverse population that we serve in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida along the Gulf Coast. Education and awareness often are the first steps to diminishing risk and preventing cancer. The Mitchell Cancer Institute offers a variety of classes and opportunities that help patients and their caregivers understand cancer better.
The MCI also supports cancer education in the community at large by providing educational talks in partnership with local churches and civic groups, and by participating in local health fairs and job site wellness events. These outreach programs empower patients, their caregivers and others to learn more about cancer, learn how to protect themselves and their families, and learn how to minimize risk or recurrence. Ultimately, this process aims to reduce the burden of cancer in our community and helps people lead longer, better lives.
Think Pink Tea is an opportunity to continue this mission and extend education and support to patients, families and community members. Thank you for supporting breast cancer patients. Gifts to the Think Pink Tea campaign benefit the Breast Cancer Patient Assistance Endowed Fund at USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute.
