Story
Food insecurity is a major problem in our state. One in seven Tennesseans struggles with hunger. During these uncertain times, access to food is even more difficult for many people in Tennessee. We serve clients across the state to help them get access to federal nutrition programs and work directly with Tennessee state officials to advocate for a stronger food safety net.
Our work impacts clients like Teresa Thompson, a Disability Services worker who has been her senior parents' caregiver for the last few years. When her parents' SNAP benefit was cut down from $200 to $16 per month, Teresa stopped at nothing to fight back and ensure that her parents had access to healthy and nutritious foods. She wrote letters and even visited her legislator with us to fight not only for her parents but for other seniors across Tennessee who don't have a daughter or advocate ensuring they get nutritious food to stay healthy from the SNAP program.
Support families like Teresa's when you give to TJC's anti-hunger work.
