Story
Who Is Pittsburgh For? This is the question that we at Open Hand Ministries (OHM) are working to answer. We believe:
Pittsburgh is for the racial and ethnic minorities that have been systemically kept from home ownership and economic justice.
Pittsburgh is for the senior citizens who helped build and maintain the neighborhoods that they see flourishing around them.
Pittsburgh is a home for the single parent who works hard to support their family and maintain safe housing in thriving neighborhoods.
Our job is to advocate for our neighbors and provide programming that prepares them to step into their rightful place in their communities, as people whom Pittsburgh is for.
For 13 years, Open Hand Ministries has worked to empower our neighbors to reach their God-given potential through the pursuit of their economic, neighborhood and spiritual goals.
Our mission is to extend financial wellness to the black and brown residents of the East End who have been structurally excluded from the benefits of a community where land values have increased exponentially. The outcomes that we see are families lives transformed through debt reduction and credit repair, small businesses created, and families becoming first time home buyers, usually with thousands of dollars of equity on day one!
The question I have for you is, Does this move you? If the answer is yes, please consider becoming a monthly supporter of Open Hand Ministries. We need YOUR help to bring about our vision of a Pittsburgh for everyone.
