Since its inception, the White on Green Party has raised over $50,000. We thank you! Samantha, a patient at Pluta, wanted to share how the programs and services that were funded thanks to this event, have made a significant impact on her life.
When I was 31 years old I was told that I had breast cancer. My first words were, I don't care about myself; I have a 4 year old daughter. Cancer definitely caught me off guard. The most apparent feeling was shock. Shock that I was 31 years old, a mother, and I have breast cancer. It was all surreal.
What happened next was the light at the end of tunnel. I started chemotherapy at Pluta and was greeted by empathetic staff who were so kind and calming. I received a comfort bag on my first day of treatment from the Pluta Foundation. I quickly learned about the Pluta Integrative Oncology & Wellness Center and the programs that would alleviate some of the side effects of my treatment. I scheduled acupuncture sessions, joined weekly yoga and meditation sessions and scheduled a massage. Being able to experience activities aimed at healing and feel a sense of inclusiveness, brought such relief during this stressful time.
Samantha's story is just one example of the impact that the White on Green has had on Pluta patients over the years. Thanks to events like this, the Pluta Foundation is able to fund these Integrative Oncology & Wellness Services, so there is no cost to the patient. Unfortunately we will not be able to come together this year, but while many aspects of life have been paused, cancer continues. If you are able, please consider making a donation.
