IEEE Women in Engineering: Advancing Talent, Driving Innovation, Building Belonging in STEM

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global leader in advancing talent, fostering inclusive innovation, and transforming the face of STEM. With over 40,000 members across 127+ countries, WIE empowers individuals, regardless of gender or background, to thrive, lead, and create impact at every stage of life and career.

Through high-impact programs, mentorship, and leadership development, WIE equips its members with the tools, networks, and confidence to shape the future of technology. From the WIE STAR Program that inspires young girls to explore STEM, to the WIE International Leadership Summits that elevate mid-career professionals, WIE is a launchpad for growth and a home for changemakers.

For Aryan, WIE was a revelation: “People used to think IEEE WIE is for ‘Women in Engineering.’ One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that WIE is for anyone and everyone who shares the passion for creating change and championing equal opportunities.”

Kayla Taylor echoes this sentiment, finding her footing in engineering through WIE’s interdisciplinary community: “WIE helped me understand how I could leverage my background in astronomy, physics, and statistics to navigate my educational journey.”

Baya Bouchaala describes her experience as life-changing: “IEEE Women in Engineering helped me evolve into a confident young professional and dedicated volunteer. I’ve promised myself to give back to a community that has already given me so much.”

And for Wafa Ben Hmida, WIE was a source of strength and renewal: “After maternity leave, I didn’t know how to balance work and family. Meeting inspiring women in WIE helped me regain confidence and prove myself again at work.”

Whether you're seeking community, career advancement, or a platform to spark change, WIE offers a global ecosystem of support, from local Affinity Groups and Student Branches to digital collaboration hubs like IEEE Collabratec. Signature events like IEEE WIE Day and the Climate Tech Big Idea Pitch Competition celebrate innovation and amplify voices driving progress.

WIE is committed to building a STEM landscape rooted in access, opportunity, and authentic connection. Through scholarships, caregiver grants, awards, and creative contests, WIE removes barriers and recognizes excellence.
