Story

To help us maintain a level of excellence and support for our student-athletes, we are competing in the Clash of the Titans crowdfunding campaign. Your support will provide the resources needed to excel and remain relevant in a highly competitive conference.
Our funding need for the rest of the year is $40,000. Your gift will help offset the expenses of our spring season travel budget and, more importantly, help us with the renovation of our indoor practice facility within Calihan Hall, including adding launch monitor technology and new flooring for our practice area. We are partnering with the Men's Golf team to raise the funds needed for the renovations. These renovations will save us money as we will no longer need to pay for indoor practice facilities at other places once they are completed.
When the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced the 2018-19 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Awards, the University of Detroit Mercy 2018-19 women's golf team was among the national leaders.
The 2018-19 Titans recorded a team GPA of 3.814 the sixth-highest mark in NCAA Division I and 11th-best across Divisions I, II and III.
The 2018-19 school year marks the fourth time in the last seven years the Titans cracked the WGCA Top 25 for highest national GPA. Detroit Mercy was 20th in 2013 with a 3.617 GPA, third in 2014 with a 3.838 GPA and 16th in 2015 with a 3.684 GPA.
Detroit Mercy is the only school in Michigan, and one of only two Horizon League institutions (Green Bay 3.744), to earn the honor for the 2018-19 academic year.
The award also piles on to an impressive spring for the women's golf team, as earlier this year the Titans earned the Horizon League's Raise Your Sights Award, as well as Detroit Mercy's Team Excellence Award, for posting the highest team GPA across all sports in the league and within the University.
All eight players on last years Titan roster hold a GPA over 3.35, with six of the eight posting GPA's over 3.5.

The 2019-20 season is the first full season under Coach Larry Hamilton, who joined the program in February. He has a young but veteran group with no seniors, as five juniors and two freshmen don the red, white and blue this season.
"With the majority of our players being upperclassmen, I believe we have a real opportunity to be very good," said Hamilton. "The experience and the maturity they display on and off the golf course will serve as the foundation for this team and will help shape this teams identity. Each of them has the ability to be very successful, and I'm looking forward to seeing them go and make it happen."
"Each of the players worked hard over the summer and it has shown," said Hamilton. "The tournaments they chose to play in and their commitment to practice and fitness have helped us get off to a good start so far."
Your gift will help the Detroit Mercy women's golf team be a competitive program in the Horizon League and NCAA Division I, and will benefit the student-athletes as they reach their goals on the course, in the classrooms, and in the community.
Thank you for your support of Detroit Mercy Titans women's golf!
