Help JFS Support Immigrants With Dignity & Justice
Federal policy changes have dramatically shifted how migrants can access asylum. Since January 20, 2025, the CBP One portal shut down, and families are no longer entering shelters as before. In response, Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS) is pivoting from shelter services to legal defense and wraparound support—but we need your help to fill the gaps fast.
Our Vision: “Welcome the Stranger”
Founded in 1918, JFS has always centered this value. Today, that means:
‒ Pro bono legal services for vulnerable immigrants, including unaccompanied minors and adults facing deportation.
‒ Free immigration legal support and education at 12 local community colleges and universities.
‒ Renewal support for Dreamers (DACA recipients).
‒ Free citizenship courses in partnership with San Diego County libraries.
In addition to our immigration services, JFS also offers a broad range of supports and assistance for all vulnerable members of the San Diego community including access to healthy food, aging care services and transportation, and a Safe Parking Program for community members living in their cars.
Why Your Gift Matters Now
‒ Legal services are urgent and underfunded. Without representation, people risk deportation.
‒ Community support provides stability for vulnerable families.
‒ Federal changes mean more people need help—and fewer resources are available.
