Story
For 150 years, the YMCA of Greater San Antonio has stood as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities and fostering connections across generations.
By uniting people from all walks of life, the Y empowers individuals with access to vital resources, nurturing relationships, and opportunities to grow and thrive. Today, the Y’s mission remains focused on improving health, igniting youth empowerment, and demonstrating the transformative power of human connection. Through our wide ranges of services, childcare, job training, senior support, and safe havens for children -we create lasting, positive change. As we celebrate this historic 150th milestone, we also look to the future, continuing our mission of helping people, families, and communities lead fulfilling lives.
At the Y, our mission is to strengthen communities, and over the last 150 years, we’ve served 3.3 million people through programs that empower people of all ages and backgrounds to thrive. From childcare and youth development to job training and senior engagement, we believe everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential and feel connected, healthy and supported.
