Story

Soooooo first of all, thanks for visiting my page.

When I first signed up to this I didn’t realise the joys of covid was going to cancel this event so many times! I’ve trained 4 times (ran one virtual last year) for one marathon! Finally it’s happening 2 years of training and I get to run for an amazing small “unknown” children’s charity! And I know all your donations are going to make a HUGE difference!

When looking for a charity place I decided I wanted to focus on small less known children's charities, so that I could help smaller organisations to raise awareness and funding for their worthwhile causes. I found MACS (I'll link their information below) and I was pretty blown away by what they were doing in many ways but mostly by the support they are offering children and families.

***Information about MACS***

MACS was formed in 1993, by a group of parents, all of whom had children with microphthalmia (small formed eyes), anophthalmia (no eyes) and coloboma (sight problems). Children may also be affected by developmental problems and learning difficulties. In 1994, MACS became a registered charity.

Until MACS, most families had never met any other children with MACS conditions, nor had the opportunity to meet, support or learn from each other. With MACS' help, families have access to peer support from those who understand what they are going through. This can be a crucial lifeline to our families.

Through your sponsored activities and donations, you are also supporting MACS to:

  • Raise awareness of these rare conditions and support research into finding out more about their cause
  • Provide practical, emotional and financial help to families and,
  • Enable children and young people to access opportunities that aim to develop life skills and boost confidence.

Please support MACS!
