We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect, but we need your help too. Join the TCS London Marathon 2025 and help us to ensure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.

Story

Update: Due to injury I've had to defer the Marathon - I'll continue using this page to raise money for Mind, and I'll be running London Marathon in 2025 to support that!

Training is going smoothly - I don't know how quick I'll do it, but I look forward to finishing the blasted thing however much it wrecks my legs!

The cause

Over the years, I've become really aware of mental health, the role it can play in our lives, and the importance of talking about it.

I've had times where I've struggled - struggled to be happy, struggled to focus, and struggled to appreciate the things that I love. I've muddled through, and more recently I've discovered things like therapy which have helped me stay healthy, well and happy. But there have been scary points as well. I'm now doing what I can in my work and volunteering, in my training as a counsellor, and in my relationships and community to facilitate conversations about mental health - and it's this passion that made me decide to run London Marathon for Mind.

Mind is a leading charity that provides invaluable resources, guidance, and advocacy for individuals battling mental health conditions. Their tireless efforts empower people to seek support, improve their wellbeing, and have a positive impact on their communities. Through innovative programs, advocacy campaigns, and comprehensive support services, Mind is changing lives and fostering a society that values and prioritizes mental health.

Your generous donations will enable Mind to continue their vital work, including providing a lifeline through their helpline, campaigning for improved mental health services, and delivering educational initiatives that challenge misconceptions surrounding mental health. Together, we can break down barriers and ensure that no one faces mental health issues alone.

The run

26.2 miles of London's streets. It's been a few years since I ran anything like a marathon, and in that time I've lost a lot of fitness, caught covid, and been less active. The training and the race will be a big challenge, but knowing that I'm doing it for a cause will get me through it 💪Mind's bitWhen you're experiencing a mental health problem, supportive and reliable information can change your life. That's what we do. We empower people to understand their condition and the choices available to them through the following:-Our Infoline, which offers callers confidential help for the price of a local call.-Our Legal Line, which provides information on mental health related law to the public, service users, family members/carers, mental health professionals and mental health advocates.-Our award-winning information, certified by the PIF Tick."Mind was such an invaluable source of information. I can't put into words how helpful they were for both of us..."
