Story

I'm proud to be joining #TeamARUK in the 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon!

I am running in honour of my father and father-in-law- both of whom we lost in 2023 after long, brave battles with vascular dementia and in the latter case additional Alzheimer’s. Both men dealt with the disease with the same acceptance, dignity and strength of character with which they had dealt with life’s challenges. The physical and mental impact on the wellbeing of those caring for relatives with dementia is immense. It is particularly heartbreaking when the time comes to let go and release loved ones into the care of professionals. If you can spare a couple of £££ to support research that will lead us to better treatments and ultimately, a cure for dementia it would help enormously. Thank you for your support.

I am delighted to be running with this year’s Alzheimer’s Research mascot - Elmer the Elephant whose celebration of diversity and inclusivity  I hope I share.

Thank you #Styal Running Club and latterly to #Cheltenham Running Club for giving me the confidence to even attempt this challenge.
