Story
I'm running the London Marathon and raising money for Hospice UK! Hospice UK it is the national charity for hospice and end of life care. They work to ensure that everyone affected by death, dying and bereavement gets the care and support they need, when they need it. They support over 200 local hospice organisations, as well as making an impact nationally. Please sponsor my marathon and help me hit my target!
My story
I ran London virtual Marathon in 2020 and followed on my training to run the London Marathon in October 2021. I have now signed up for my third marathon ( along with some other crazy runners) for April 2023.
Our close friend Steve Miller received amazing care during his last few hours at our local hospice in Watford. Following a diagnosis of oesophageal cancer in June 2022 at the age of 48. He sadly died 2 month later leaving his wife and 2 teenage daughters. He bravely faced his diagnosis, he planned for his families future and final month. Steve had a bucket list to make positive memories including a family holiday, fly a plane , meet up with all his friends and to drive a vintage car.
When the time came for Steve to need end of life care, the team managed to get a room in the local hospice, that offered a dignified comfortable room for Steve and the freedom for friends and family to say their final goodbye. The hospice are still available to support the family and they are all eternally grateful for this.
I am raising money to help other families receive the love and care that Steve and his family experienced during this difficult times. Please sponsor me and help a wonderful charity, help others at a time it is most needed.
One final word ....I am now in training and will be running on 23rd April 2023 with a lovely bunch of ladies, who are all raising money for various charities. Please keep your eyes out for our fundraising events. Thank you xx
