Welcome to our 2020 London marathon page!

Story

And we're back!  Well, one of us...

We launched our fundraising ahead of the marathon that was due in April 2020, which Paul eventually ran (in the pouring rain and supported by a small army of friends and family) in October 2020 as a virtual event.

Our charity, the Reeds' School Foundation kindly allowed our places to be rolled-over to the April 2021 event, only for Covid to intervene again.  But hopefully, in October this year, we will get to the start-line proper.  Except that Max will have left for the University of Amsterdam by then, so it will be left to me to carry the baton.

Your generous donations in 2020 were received by the Foundation but like most charities, they have seen income drop significantly over the last 12 months whilst demands on their resources have increased.  So, I need your help, again.  You don't need to strap on the trainers and run the marathon but you can help me get to our original target of £2,000.  Here's why...

Founded in 1813 as the London Orphan Asylum, the Reed’s Foundation is committed to providing educational and pastoral support for vulnerable children who have lost the support of one or both parents. Over 12,000 children have had their lives transformed through the work of the Foundation. These children have suffered from parental deaths, abandonment, abuse, and parental health issues, physical or mental. They each have the ability, but unfortunately not the means, to overcome these childhood traumas.  Last year, roughly 10% of the Reed's School pupil population was supported by the Foundation.

PLEASE give whatever you can to this great cause and keep your fingers crossed for me and the rest of the Reeds' runners team on the day!

Thanks - Paul
