The Fight to end Poverty and Racism in the face of COVID-19 · 21 April 2020

The Shriver Center's Giving Challenge is a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign designed to support the Shriver Center on Poverty Law's advocacy response to COVID-19.

Story

Who is delivering your food right now or cleaning the hospitals in your town? Do they have paid sick leave if they get COVID-19? Do they have stable housing? Adequate health coverage? COVID-19 lays bare the inequity that's always been in our nation and falls hardest on those who are black and brown or low-income. But you can make a difference for these first responders. The Shriver Center has been doing crisis advocacy during this crisis, pushing for expanded food stamps, expanded Medicaid benefits, waiving of evictions, and its working. You can keep pushing to see the "new" first responders get the care they need while they are caring for you. Please join me in making a donation today. The Shriver Center's immediate COVID-19 response rendered several major policy wins that were recently featured in The Chicago Reporter: https://www.chicagoreporter.com/illinois-changes-medicaid-food-stamps-and-unemployment-policies-in-response-to-covid-19/
