Story
I have a personal connection to Brain Disease and Alzheimer's,
which has motivated me to use one of our season's simracing races, presented by the Bootleg Racing League and Virtual Grip Network, as a platform to raise money and awareness. Having witnessed the impact of Alzheimer's and Brain Disease, I understand how difficult it can be, and unfortunately, it is often identified too late. Professionally, I work as a scientist for a startup company that develops diagnostic tests for early detection of Alzheimer's and Brain Diseases that are less invasive. When I learned that June was Brain Disease and Alzheimer's Awareness month, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to merge my passion for racing/simracing with a cause I care deeply about and want to make an impact on.
Here are some facts from the Alzheimer's Association:
Alzheimer's is a national crisis, affecting over 6 million Americans. One in three seniors die of Alzheimer's or another dementia, and it is responsible for more deaths than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. More than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people living with Alzheimer's and other dementia. The Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, and research. We need your help to end this devastating disease.
