I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 3 years old. Like so many others, I was told what I had to do to survive, but no one really talked about how to live with T1D.

Conencted in Motion is where I met people who just get it—the blood sugar rollercoasters, the midnight alarms, the mental load. It’s where I stopped feeling like I had to explain my diabetes, and where I learned that it’s okay to ask for help. It’s where I found some of my closest friends and where I’ve had some of my most amazing, challenging, and empowering experiences.

This May, I’m returning to Ottawa to run the 5K at Tamarack Race Weekend, and I’m doing it for CIM.

I'm running to celebrate this community that has given me—and thousands of other adults with T1D—a place to belong.
