Story
When I joined the board of Upstream Ottawa, I met people and families whose lives had been changed through Upstream’s support. One story shared with me, and one that still echoes, came from a community member who had lived through years of instability and fear. After receiving safe housing and compassionate care, they said it was the first time in years they could exhale and finally feel safe again. From there, they began building a career, a home, and a family. That support positively impacted not only one community member, but generations to come.
These lived experience stories are why I’m taking on a 10km run in support of Upstream Ottawa.
By rough math, that’s about 13,000 steps on race day. I’m more accustomed to running than fundraising, so I’ll handle the steps if you might consider helping with the contribution!
Upstream Ottawa does meaningful work through housing support, mental health and substance-use services, outreach, and practical care. Helping people build greater stability, dignity, and hope.
If you are able to contribute, any amount would be sincerely appreciated. Every dollar helps create tangible impact in our community and gives a little extra purpose to every step I take.
