Karen and I will be “spinning” to help raise money to support all YMCA fitness programs, especially the YMCA’s LIVESTRONG fitness program for cancer survivors and the YMCA’s pickleball program!

We’re riding to honor our friend Kirk Coykendall.  Kirk was an avid pickleball player and pickleball promoter.  He helped get pickleball started at the Y in Wareham, advocating for creation of the lighted outdoor courts we enjoy today.  He dedicated a great deal of his time, leadership, and organizational talents to the YMCA, serving on the Board of Directors for Southcoast YMCA for 22 years.  He exemplified living life to the fullest into his “golden” years, playing spirited pickleball at the Y… and he could spin!  He rode his last “century,” 100 mile bike ride, at age 72.  Sadly, Kirk succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2019.  His lasting legacy includes a vibrant pickleball program and community here in Wareham, and we’re very proud to do our small part to honor his memory and support a YMCA and pickleball community he loved.  If you can spare even a small donation, we would appreciate your support.
