Our little baby boy Rupert entered the world on 19th December 2019 - 10 weeks earlier than expected.

Although we were nervous about how he would cope, we felt confident in the knowledge that babies arrive early all of the time and can be perfectly fine. Although he needed some help with his breathing, things were looking positive and we were counting down the days to bring our bundle of joy home.

3 days later, at Heartlands Hospital, we received news that would change our lives forever - it was confirmed that Rupert had suffered a severe bleed to both sides of his brain and it would be very unlikely that he would survive.

Our last 24 hours with Rupert were spent in the Eden Suite and we were overwhelmed with the care, support and love we received within that time. At this point the staff first introduced us to SANDs charity and what they can offer.

No one should ever have to go through this, I would not wish it upon my worst enemy - but for anyone that does (and sadly that is a lot of people) SANDS can offer you the support you didnt think you would ever needed, when you are at your weakest.

We would like to raise money to help the SANDs continue it's phenomenal work and support families in such fragile and traumatic situations like ours.
