Bath Half Marathon 2019 · 17 March 2019 ·

The Bath Half Marathon, is one of the longest established and most popular city centre road events in the UK.

Story

Ok, let's get this out the way then. You've read this right. The man known for only doing a sport that involves slippery hills and gravity, AND the man known for refusing to walk anywhere further than 10 metres is RUNNING, yes... , a Half Marathon!! Please don't laugh too much...

Over my three years at Bath, the Bath Half has always been an event that I've wanted to have a go at, but never taken the plunge. This changes now! As my first long distance run (of my entire life), and that my middle names are not Mo, or indeed Farah, I have set myself the task of simply finishing.

But seriously, I wanted to attempt this event in honour of my Grandmother and Grandfather, both of whom passed away from the terrible Alzheimer's disease, which is responsible for 62% of dementia cases. I would be extremely grateful for any financial donation towards this truly worthwhile cause.

Alzheimer's affects over 850,000 people living in the UK today, a number that is expected to rise to over 1 million by 2025, and onwards of 2 million in 2051. 225,000 people will develop dementia this year, one person every three minutes.

The Alzheimer's Society is committed to caring for people affected by dementia, investing £150 million in cutting-edge research over the next ten years, as well as continuing to campaign and educate the public to push for a more dementia-friendly society. This gives those living with the condition the peace of mind to continue to live their lives to the full.

Please do donate whatever you can to my fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society. Your help will directly benefit those living with Alzheimer's and dementia, helping them live more comfortable lives.

Thank you for your support in advance, which is much appreciated.
