On 13th October our youngest son Henry was sadly stillborn at 32 weeks, with no prior indication there was anything wrong. Throughout our journey so far we have been supported by SANDS charity, who have provided us with guidance in how to speak to George, returning to work and how we can support each other. Whilst our memory box was provided by the hospital this is also a support SANDS provide and ours has been incredibly precious to us.
In the days leading up to Jane giving birth, she was also able to use their website to understand what she was about to go through and was able to use their recommendations to prepare some items for Henry, including making him a blanket to be wrapped in.
1 in 200 babies are stillborn, a statistic that is higher than either of us ever realised. Whilst we would never wish our heartbreak on anyone else, I am running to raise money and awareness for the charity so that they can continue to provide the amazing support to other grieving parents and help them know that they are not alone.
