Story
In January 2022 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, my family and friends have supported me through a very challenging year and in June we are taking part in the Prevent Breast Cancer Morcambe Bay walk .
Last year my son Jordan ,daughter Olivia and her boyfriend Oliver raised funds for breast cancer charities, Cancer Research and MacMilllan. (See gallery) I was so proud of their efforts and looking back on it, I realise it was an important stage in their coming to terms with my diagnosis. Fundraising gave them something positive to focus on and was a distraction from the painful reality of what I was going through. Today, we are all grateful that the six months of chemotherapy that I endured last year means that I’m still here , but I’m not through the woods, infact I’ve been told that although I do have other treatment options available to me ,there’s no cure for my cancer, making us all the more determined to do our bit to raise much needed funds for another worthy breast cancer charity.
Prevent Breast Cancer is the only charity in the UK dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer. Unlike many cancer charities, they focus on preventing, rather than curing. Promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, they believe we can stop the problem before it starts. Every year, in the UK, over 55,000 individuals are diagnosed 150 people a day. And every year, we lose 11,500 to this disease. That is 11,500 too many. In fact, it is 55,000 too many. With your support we can help fight this disease together.
Thankyou in anticipation of your donation, or in passing on our Just Giving page link to others.
