WPA empowers women to redefine their lives in the face of injustice and incarceration. Together, we forge pathways to freedom, safety, and independence. If you are interested in running & fundraising on behalf of WPA, email rpak@wpaonline.org.

Story

WPA is the nation's first organization for women impacted by incarceration. The number of women in state prison in the U.S. has increased by 834% over the last four decades. That is more than twice the rate of increase that men experienced. WPA's alternative to incarceration program, JusticeHome allows women to avoid prison or jail. Instead they address the challenges that led to their arrest in the community. It costs NYC more than $450K to incarcerate someone for one year. By comparison, it costs less than $20K a year to offer her an alternative to incarceration with WPA.

I have been a supporter and advocate for the WPA alongside many of my closest friends in NYC for the last 8 years. I believe in the cause and the incredible people who work with and support this organization. And I hope to support the cause of improving the many lives impacted by a flawed criminal justice system.
