London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
I am raising money for Guy's Cancer Charity for their outstanding care and support following my partner's cancer diagnosis.
Gianna was suddenly diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma in April 2023. It came as a complete shock and it was a very distressing time for us. You are always aware of how common cancer is yet you still never expect it to happen to you in your 20s. For me personally, my outlook on life changed completely as soon as I heard the words of cancer, and all I wanted to do was to give everything that I can to care for Gianna as best as possible.
I cannot thank enough Guy's Cancer Centre, all the staff at Guy's Hospital, and the Teenage and Young Adults (TYA) service team, heavily supported by Guy's Cancer Charity for all the support they provided Gianna. The care, the information and confidence they provided us was so important for her recovery. The half year of Gianna's treatment was a time of huge anxiety but with Guy's Cancer Charity's support, despite being worried I never lost confidence that Gianna wouldn't get better again.
I am glad to announce that Gianna's treatment went very successfully and that she is currently in remission. I am therefore very proud to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Guy's Cancer Charity. This is not only to say thank you for helping Gianna but I hope to continuously support Guy's Cancer Charity to ensure that they continue to provide quality care to others also unjustly suffering from cancer.
