London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
If you know me, you will know that I always love a challenge, but if I am being honest, this challenge, will probably be the hardest challenge I will have to face because of what this will mean to me and my family.
I first started running at the age of 14 with my dad, and with his encouragement and his fantastic support he helped me run my first 3 mile run, all those years ago, even though I moaned to him every step I took, he never gave up on me! I had always dreamt of running in the London Marathon, and my dad was aware of this, after a number of unsuccessful ballot attempts, it just seemed so appropriate to run for Heart Research UK in memory of my fantastic Dad.
Sadly and very tragically we lost our dad, last year at the young age of 64 due to Heart Disease. I am sure that on the day of the marathon, it will be extremely emotional for me and my family but I am sure that my dad will be looking over me, and listening to me moaning at mile 23, when my body usually decides to tell me 'enough is enough' haha.. and sending me some strength and encouragement in good old dad style!
I am hoping to raise funds for Heart Research UK as this is a charity close to our families hearts. I am delighted to be supporting this charity, and to raise much needed funds in hope to enable more research and to help raise awareness of Heart Disease and other related heart conditions in hope that more people survive and lead a healthier longer life!
