I'm proud to join Team Tommy's in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·
Many of us heard you're not supposed to share you're pregnant until the end of the 1st trimester, the famous 12 week milestone. But many of us don't think about why this is or what it really means. An estimated 1 in 5 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. About 1 in 100 women in the UK experience recurrent miscarriages (3 or more in a row).
Not only is this a shockingly high number, it also means these women and families often suffer in silence. I had someone close to me experience pregnancy complications the resulted in the loss of their child. It was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life and I can only imagine the pain they had gone through. 💔
But too often health professionals are not able to tell women why
they have had a miscarriage. This area of research is underfunded, with many taking an unhelpful (and unique to pregnancy) approach of ‘It was not meant to be’.
Research into why miscarriage happens is the only way we can save lives and prevent future loss. In 2016, Tommy’s opened the UK’s first national centre dedicated to miscarriage research. 🌸
I'm proud to be joining Team Tommy's in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 to support Tommy's and continue their vital work saving babies' lives. Tommy's fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents. They believe it is unacceptable that one in four women lose a baby during pregnancy and birth. They want every parent to have the best possible pregnancy outcomes and to take home happy, healthy babies.
Please support me to take on the 21 km of the London Landmarks Half Marathon. 🏃
