Welcome to our 2020 London marathon page!

Story

Um, so I still can’t believe I’ve got a fundraising page for the ACTUAL London Marathon... me running THE London Marathon... it’s a little bit surreal!

(I’ve never run a marathon before... shhhh!)

I’m beyond proud to be representing Fordy Runs, the best running club in the universe, after getting a place in the club ballot - but I’ll tell you more about them in a minute. I’m also seriously proud to be raising money for Teens Unite, which is a fantastic charity supported by us Fordys, who do amazing, brilliant things for teenagers with cancer. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be battling something like that let alone at such a a young age, but Teens Unite help so many teenagers in that situation to live their lives to the very best that they can and not be defined by cancer. They sort out a whole lot of activities and amazing things so that the young people can meet each other, laugh together and support each other through such a horrendous time. And Teens Unite support them every step of the way too.

I don’t have kids myself but I teach teenagers, and I know how devastated I would be if any of them got told that they had cancer. Teens Unite is so needed for those who do have to go through it and I’m so made up to be supporting the amazing work they do.

Right then... where do I start on the Fordy Runs lot? I joined Fordy Runs back in 2018 after, ironically, my husband had told me that I couldn’t train for or run the London Marathon (just wait till I get that medal!) I was a very new, inexperienced runner but this awesome bunch have done nothing but provide love, support, encouragement and laughs along the way, and absolutely NO judgement whatsoever for how fast or slow, how long or short the distance that I might run - just so much positivity. I’ve made some amazing friends. Every time we meet up I literally have so many stories and fantastic memories to take away with me, whether it’s running the London Relay as one big pink family, or throwing out some oggy oggy oggys at the Great North Run - I’d have never got to where I am without my Fordy family. Thank you so much you lot, you have made such a massive impact on my life.

Getting a place in the club ballot was so unexpected but such a huge honour and I promise I’m going to do the absolute best I can to do my fellow Fordys and Teens Unite proud. I’m not a natural runner, anyone who knows me will tell you what an absolutely huge challenge this is for me, but this is an absolutely golden opportunity and I’m going to make the most of it.

So... begging time! Now you’ve read my little essay I would be SO grateful if you could sponsor me, or at least share this page and nag other people! I don’t care if it’s £1 or £100 - ANYTHING you can give will be sooooo massively appreciated. Thank you sooooooo much.

So much love,

Louise xxxx
