Paras'10 2023
Campaign by Help For Children UK (RCN 1116081)
PARAS'10 COLCHESTER The event is a testing 10 mile route on the local training area, with obstacles/stream crossing. Located at Colchester Garrison in Essex.

Story

The PARAS’10 is based on the 10-miler, which is the first event of The Parachute Regiment’s P Company Test Week for selection. The 10-mile march is conducted as a squad over undulating terrain with each candidate carrying a bergen weighing 35lbs (plus water) and a weapon. The march must be completed in 1 hour and 50 minutes for them to pass…I’m just aiming to finish (hopefully under 2 hours if I can!)

I’ve been training for this since January, gradually building up to the extremely gruelling challenge of 16km with 16kg in my backpack. I am not a natural runner and I no longer have blissful youth on my side but I am doing the hard work. This is because I remind myself that no matter how challenging this event may be, it is no match for the pain and suffering those kids endure day in, day out.

Help For Children raises much-needed funds to combat child maltreatment in multiple locations across the globe. Academic and social welfare experts from renowned universities and institutions provide consultation throughout the grant process. Funds raised in each HFC location are granted out locally within that community. HFC has a local impact with a global footprint.UNITED KINGDOM STATISTICS- $58M in grants since inception- 1.1M lives transformed- 1IN4 children are abused, this can be prevented- 1BN children suffer from some form of violence each year
