I was a 'lucky' homeowner. My home was part of a divorce settlement. The first few years of paying a mortgage on my own meant that I had to scrape together the funds for gas and food. It was hard. 

I believe in how Habitat partners with women to EMPOWER them to create a better future. They come alongside to provide encouragement and financial education, accountability and credit counseling, self-reliance and general construction skills. 

I love building with Habitat! I always have fun learning something new. At the end of the volunteer shift, the sense of accomplishment and community give back is at another level. 

This year, Women Build will take place in the West Central neighborhood returning forgotten homes into forever homes.
